The Kickstarter has come to a close. We've reached our funding goal, and a little extra too! This was a very close campaign and came down to the last 24 hours. That's something I've never experienced before as either a creator or a backer, and I can honestly say it was nerve wracking. We didn't have as many backers as last time, but that's okay. I am so grateful that so many of you showed up to support this project. Your generosity is going to bring two Modest Medusa books to life and will help me continue to make my weekly comics. I appreciate that so much. Thank you.
We managed to meet two of our stretch goals! The first unlocked a short comic featuring Marah that will appear in the Season 5 book. Thanks to a generous last second contribution from Jeff Lee we reached the second stretch goal in the Kickstarter's last few minutes, unlocking the 24 Hour Modest Medusa book as an add-on. I know some of you had already increased your pledges in anticipation of this book. For the rest of you you'll be able to select the book as an additional reward in the Backerkit when that launches next month. Of course, all of you will receive the pdf version for free.
I have a lot of work to do in the next few weeks. I need to edit dozens of strips, write commentary, draw some bonus comics, ready the book files for the printer, order prints and stickers and set up Backer Kit. I'll also be attending two conventions (Grit City Comic Show in Tacoma, WA on the 21st of this month and Geek Girl Con in Seattle on the 5th of November). But I'll be posting weekly updates to keep you informed, and I hope to be able to ship your books in January.
Several of you have asked about the NEXT Modest Medusa book. I haven't decided if I'll try to do Modest Medusa Season 6 or reprint Seasons 1 & 2 next. Either way, expect a Kickstarter early next year.
Again, thank you all for your support, both over the last few weeks and for the last 11 years. Creating comics has been the only thing I ever wanted in my life and you're support has allowed me to do this. I will forever be thankful for that.

Hi everyone. We're down to our last few days and we're about 85% funded. A lot of you have asked me if I think we're going to reach our goal, and to be honest I'm not sure. I really appreciate that so many of you have showed up for this project and have been so enthusiastic about it. I've seen you out there sharing the Kickstarter link with your friends and reblogging my posts. Thank you all!
I'm hoping that there are some people out there that have decided to wait to the last minute to pledge, and I'll be spending the next 2 days reaching out to previous backers and longtime fans. We may make it yet!
In the meantime, please don't spend more than you can afford. I've seen some of you dramatically increase your pledges in the last few days, hoping to push the project over the edge. I appreciate that, but I really don't want you to spend more than you're comfortable with. If this project doesn't fund it won't be because you weren't plenty generous and enthusiastic. You don't need to add on 3 extra pillows!

The Modest Medusa Season 5 Kickstarter funded with less than 20 hours to go! Thank you all so much! I was genuinely worried we wouldn't reach out goal. You've all been very generous, and I'm going to make the best books and PDFs I can for you.
We have one last day to work toward our stretch goals. I honestly don't expect much, but there may still be a few watchers who are waiting till the last minute to back. here's our first few stretch goals, just to give you an idea of what we MIGHT still unlock:

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great week! We're entering the last 10 days of the new Modest Medusa Kickstarter and we're about 70% funded. That's pretty good! I really appreciate your support and enthusiasm so far! Since we're getting closer to funding the project lets talk about Stretch Goals!
For those of you who don't know, a Stretch Goal is a goal we can meet after the Kickstarter is finished to unlock new rewards! For example, if we reach $14,000 I'll add a brand new 3 page comic featuring Marah to the Season 5 book! Most of the Stretch Goals are for extra 3 page comics featuring different characters, so the better the Kickstarter does the more comics will be added to the book!
The other 2 Stretch Goals unlock two special books that can be purchased as add-ons. 24 Hour Modest Medusa is a collection of short black & white Modest Medusa comics that I've created over the years for the 24 Hour Comic Day challenge. This book has been out of print for a long time and I'd love to be able to bring it back! I'm also ready to release a sequel book called 48 Hour Modest Medusa which will contain even more comics, including a brand new one created just for this new book! Each book is about 100 pages and will be available as add-ons for $13 each! We'll unlock these books if we reach $14500 and $16000!

Book sketches and Add-ons

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a good week! We're a full week into the Kickstarter and about 65% funded. That's pretty good! Thank you all for your support!
I've been getting a lot of questions about the difference between the two different kinds of sketches available in this Kickstarter.
The first type is the simple sketches that I'll be doing in every book for free. These are simple drawings of Modest Medusa, Marah or another character. Usually just their head, drawn with a marker. I sketch one of these on the inside cover of each book alongside my signature and I keep it simple (and don't usually take requests) because I often end up doing a few hundred of them. Here's an example from a Season 3 book.
I'm also offering Custom Book Sketches as an add-on for $20 (for each book you want one in). These are more complicated full color illustrations, drawn with blue pencil, color pencil, micron marker and copic marker on a 3 x 4 inch adhesive sheet attached to the inside front cover of the book. I take a lot of time with these and I think they turn out really well. So if you want a custom illustration for your book, this is the option to choose. I usually charge $45-70 for commissions like these, so this is a pretty good deal! Here's a few examples!
